I’ve been getting a lot of pings from people looking for the names of all the dwarves in The Hobbit. This is probably going to be the #1 pub quiz question of the next year or two, so here they are, all thirteen:
Thorin Oakenshield led Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Ori, Dori and Nori (and Bilbo the Hobbit)
So that’s TO led 4B 2D 2O GFNK (I leave that last to your imagination).
If you want to know what beverages they quaffed, check my post about it.
Bonus point: Thirteen dwarves was an unlucky number, which is why they brought Bilbo along.
If anyone has figured out a good way to remember them all, I’d love to know. I always remember there are two sets of three – Ori, Dori, Nori and Bifur, Bofur, Bombur…
Advanced round: Now, do you know which actor played whom? Here you go for advanced pub quiz points: Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, John Callen as Oin, Peter Hambleton as Gloin, William Kircher as Bifur, James Nesbitt as Bofur, Stephen Hunter as Bombur, Dean O’Gorman as Fili, Aidan Turner as Kili, Ken Stott as Balin, Graham McTavish as Dwalin, Adam Brown as Ori , Mark Hadlow as Dori, and Jed Brophy as Nori. (Thanks to OneRingNet for the list, and the cast and crew for making the movies!) Martin Freeman was Bilbo.
For the winner-take all: the order I have them in is not the order they appear in their famous, first-released group picture. Ask me nicely and I *may* give you that list. Hint: the guy in the middle is Thorin.
