I just got this very intriguing notice from Maryland Homebrew Warehouse, one of my local esteemed homebrew supplies. They’re having a women’s event that’s a benefit for the Women’s Law Center of Maryland. WLCM advocate an equal playing field in the law for women and children (what a concept! sez she who over far too many decades has seen women’s salaries go from $.70 to $.76 compared to $1.00 of a man’s). The Women’s Law Center sponsors the Kaufman Center for Family Law, and host hotlines for employment law, family law, and a legal forms helpline (who hasn’t wanted one of those at some point?). So, a worthy cause.
Here’s the deal: On October 16 from 11-4, homebrewers who happen to be women bring their stouts and porters (that’s the theme) to Maryland Homebrew and put them on display, purchase phentermine essentially – two brewers each share a standard 6′ table, which they are welcome to decorate as they wish. Judging goes from noon-2:30, with prizes provided by Maryland Homebrew and Flying Dog Brewery, who are also supplying the judges. Yes, your beer might be reviewed by one of Flying Dog‘s own brewers! Make sure you register. You can find the rules here.
You bet I’ll be there! I’m brewing a buckwheat oatmeal stout as I write. If I like it I’ll link the recipe (it’s a new one). Just in case I’ll probably make a backup…I just got the ingredients (from Maryland Homebrew) for both the President’s Honey Porter and my own favorite autumn braggot. I made a batch not so long ago and we’re already out.
Will I see YOU there?
